So what is LOOKCAST?
It all started in 2012 when...
I discovered a half completed Rails application at an E-commerce consulting company I was working with. There it was "Getlookbook.com", just sitting on a Heroku server. The design on the marketing material wasn't half bad, and the application UI (while flawed) wasn't enterprise software terrible. The thing that really got my interest was the sheer number of users who were using the application. Without any marketing, or any team to speak of, Getlookbook had around 300 users from all over the world. Of course there was no working payment gateway... so the first experiment to run was to see who would pay (and now much!).
I went to my boss and expressed interest in working on this project. I focused first and foremost on reworking the UI, with the goal of increasing engagement. At that time the objective of Getlookbook was to provide a cloud driven solution to a fairly analog lookbook/catalog industry. Luckily for me at that time I met my cofounder. Together we charged ahead and put all our energy into building an App we were proud of.
Currently, our platform enables users to easily create beautiful lookbooks, that function like "microsites", driving traffic to their e-commerce stores. Users can add product details/links as hotspots on top of their lookbook imagery and then share with their buyers/general audience.
On this site I have covered a couple features that standout looking back on my time as Chief Product Officer. I hope they provide some insight into how I work and think.
